NACE Career Readiness Pre-Test

Are You Career-Ready? Employers look for more than just a degree, a major or GPA —they value key career readiness skills. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) identified eight core competencies. that help you prepare for life after college. They are: career & self-development, professionalism, critical thinking, teamwork, communication, equity & inclusion, leadership, and technology.

Throughout your coursework and experiences, these skills serve as helpful tools to measure growth, leading you from novice to master:

  • Novice: Aware of this skill and working to develop it
  • Developing: Growing but still improving
  • Proficient: Demonstrate it often with room to grow
  • Mastery: Demonstrate it confidently and can describe how you’ve built it

In the following sections, please read each competency, then select the level that best reflects your current readiness as it relates to work you’ve done in this class.
